Guys, I’m expanding my horizons on the blog – my weekly favorite this week is a kitchen appliance. Never thought I’d see the day. But, I love the Nutribullet Pro so much that I feel compelled to talk about it here today. If you love smoothies, read on.
Smoothies have been a significant portion of my food group for last 4-5 years. Like a 5-year-old child, I have a hard time getting all my vegetables in. Mostly because I don’t particularly like the taste of ANY vegetable. Yes, the irony of being a vegetarian who doesn’t like vegetables isn’t lost on me. But, I realized years ago, that I could easily consume certain vegetables in my smoothies. The taste is hidden among other items. So, for the past few years, most of my breakfast’s have been a smoothie to go.
Every morning I would use my blender to make my smoothie. I had the process down to the exact number of ice cubes. Nevertheless, I was always intrigued by the idea of a smaller blender like the Nutribullet Pro or a Ninja. Using a chunky blender to make smoothies for one person isn’t ideal. You end up having to use and clean a heavy glass blender + whatever cup you use to drink the smoothie. Further, the blending itself takes a bit longer since there is all this empty space in the blender itself. Yes, first world problems.
I powered through with a blender until last month when my mom very generously gifted my a Nutribullet Pro. We actually bought a refurbished one on Amazon that was $79.99 vs the full price $99.99.
The Nutribullet Pro comes with the blender itself, the blending blade, two blending cups and an assortment of lids & handles.
Why I Love It
+ This blends my smoothies in about a quarter of the time that my traditional blender did. It’s really powerful.
+ I tend to add a scoop of plant-based protein powder to my smoothies – if I don’t blend this really REALLY well, the texture is gritty. With my old blender, I would leave it on for at least a minute to get rid of the gritty taste. With the Nutribullet Pro, I don’t have to do any extra blending. Once it blends through the frozen fruit, the protein powder is usually blended enough to become a creamier texture.
+ I have less things to wash. This is key. The cup you use to add the ingredients and blend is the same cup you use to drink out of. Therefore, I only have to deal with washing one thing.
+ You can put the cups in the dishwasher & buy extra ones at Target or Amazon. I can drink smoothies several days in a row without having to wash any cups. If you haven’t noticed – not washing things often is critical in this household.
+ The size of this is really compact compared to traditional blenders. A few weeks ago when guests were staying over I really wanted a smoothie. Since they were still sleeping, I took the Nutribullet and plugged it in our bedroom to make less noise. It wasn’t a hassle at all. I would never haul my blender anywhere other than the kitchen counter.
Overall, a Nutribullet Pro is SO MUCH more convenient than a traditional blender. I find myself drinking smoothies much more often just because it’s so much easier. Further, I could probably use the Nutribullet for anything else I would have used my blender for. If I buy enough cup sizes and lids, I could blend chickpeas into hummus and use the cups I blended in to store in the fridge. It’s basically replacing my blender & food processor. I’m all about convenience. The price is completely worth it to me.
If you are big on smoothies & shakes, I would highly recommend.
Also, below is my go to breakfast smoothie. This is packed with fruits & veggies but literally tastes like a chocolate milkshake. #winning. I’m definitely a creature of habit. I’ve had this smoothie literally hundreds of times. However, if you are looking for variety, my sister has an antioxidant & green smoothie recipe on her Instagram which you can view here and here.
