Today I’m sharing a real oldie but goody. It just happens to be the best makeup brush cleaner – the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner. This cult favorite product has been around for decades! It’s literally a staple in every single makeup artist’s kit. However, since it’s mostly been sold at pro-stores, it hasn’t become a consumer favorite until recently. It’s now sold on Sephora.com & the second happiest place on earth – Amazon. If you don’t regularly clean your makeup brushes because it’s such a hassle, this post is for you.
This is a liquid, rinse-free brush cleaner with 99.9% anti-microbial disinfectant. Yeah… rinse free. An 8oz bottle runs at $24 at Sephora while the value size (32oz) is $36.
Why I Love It
+ Umm.. Rinse-free! I’m not sure what could make cleaning your brushes any easier. You dip a quarter of the brush hairs in the liquid and immediately wipe on a tissue or paper towel. The brushes will dry in a few minutes. Yeah, just a few minutes.
+ This product gets everything out. I’ve used it with brushes that I’ve washed with soap and water and this somehow still gets some makeup off. The only brushes that require multiple dips are my fan brushes I use with mascara.
+ It doesn’t leave an oily residue or film
+ You can use it on all brushes – synthetic or natural hair
+ It’s so quick. All you need to do is dip the brush, wipe and you’re done. It’s the lazy girl brush cleaner.
+ There is no mess involved. I’ve tried quite a few spray bottle brush cleaners. However, to get the entire brush I end up spraying all over the place. If, on the other hand, I wash my brushes with soap and water I end up using several cups & towels. With the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaner, all I need is a small container to store the liquid and tissues or paper towels which I throw out. I use a small mason jar to store my liquid.
+ I can use this when using the same brushes on multiple people since I can disinfect in between. Also, I don’t need any water.
Overall, this is the easiest & most effective brush cleaner I’ve ever come across. Although you’ll still want to wash your brushes with soap and water every so often, this is great for in between. Also, for those of you that never wash your brushes (you know who you are): first off, YOU SHOULD WASH YOUR BRUSHES! You use them on your face! At this point they probably have all sorts of bacteria on them. But, if you still refuse to wash them with soap and water, at a minimum, buy this cleaner! It will only take you a few seconds to clean each brush.
Lastly, a word of advice, buy the 32oz bottle. Although it seems like a lot, brushes tend to absorb quite a bit of product (this is why you only need to dip 1/4 in for a second). The 32oz bottle is only $12 more expensive than the regular 80z bottle, but it’s 4 times as big.
Happy brush cleaning!
