Hi Everyone! I hope you had a great weekend. Ours was full with Christmas & Birthday parties so of course it made the weekend feel as short as ever.
On Friday we headed to my company’s Christmas party in the downtown area. The dress code for the event was denim to diamonds. That managed to confuse everyone enough to warrant 3-4 follow up emails to clarify. You can’t be that vague with a bunch of accountants haha. I decided to go somewhere in between denim & diamonds (assuming diamonds means a cocktail dress?). Most of my Cyber Monday purchases arrived last week so I wore a tweed skirt from J Crew Factory, this Eliza J crop top and these over the knee boots from Nordstrom.
I wasn’t sure about the boots initially but it was the first night I wore them and they were super comfortable! For my makeup I used my trusted Milani 2 in 1 foundation, the Meet Matte(trimony) palette and Ardell’s Demi Wispie lashes.
The party was fun, but the best part was the smore’s they had for desert 😉
Saturday morning we headed to Toasted Kitchen which recently opened near our house. All the items on the menu are on Texas toast bread (everything is truly bigger in Texas). We both ordered the Eggs in Jail and we got The Nanner’s toast to share.
This is the second time I’ve been at Toasted, and although the food is good, I find the price to be a little excessive for what it is. The Eggs in Jail is $11-12 but it doesn’t come with any sides. You can get a whole lot more food for $12 at most brunch spots in Dallas. If we go back, we’ll probably stick to the $4-$7 options.
After that we spent a solid 2-3 hours cleaning out our closet and drawers. We hadn’t taken a serious look at our closet since we moved to this house so we ended up with 4 trash bags full of clothes and shoes to donate. Somehow we also found at least 8 random empty cardboard boxes that we had accumulated over the last year for no good reason. Our closet is clean and organized and it feels so good!
Saturday night we went to dinner at Wayward Son’s to celebrate a friend’s birthday. I ran out of eyelash glue the night before so I ran to drugstore to pick up a new tube. For some reason I thought it would be a great idea to buy black eyelash glue. I even thought to myself – why haven’t I been using black glue? It makes much more sense. Uhhhhh well… Unless you are a fake eyelash expert with the dexterity of a surgeon, black glue IS NOT YOUR FRIEND. I ended up applying the lash strip a bit too high. This usually isn’t a problem since I’ll just use tweezers and my fingers to slide them down to my lash line. BUT – black lash glue… It was a mess. There are NO pictures to share hehe. #neveragain.
Yesterday I went to my usual morning workout and then we headed to brunch for another friend’s birthday. I tried setting up the camera for some pictures but the light and the camera weren’t cooperating so we couldn’t get a good one of the two of us.
Brunch was at Fernando’s in the Knox-Henderson area. I’d never been for brunch but was happy with the prices and all the options. As a major plus, there were insanely delicious cupcakes and our brunch was very generously paid for by the birthday boy’s parents.
After that we headed home and did the usual – laundry, blogging, Instagram scooping, etc.
As always, I am linking up my weekend recap with Biana from B Loved Boston.
Hope you have a great week ahead!
