I feel like I blinked on Friday and suddenly it was Sunday night. Weekends usually feel like they fly by, but this weekend in particular feels like it went by in a blink.
As I mentioned in Friday’s post, my parents and sister were in town this weekend. My sister just transferred to SMU and they were here to help her settle in. Fortunately for us, my parents did most of the grunt work during the week so we could enjoy the weekend.
Friday afternoon we visited her apartment (which is conveniently 10 min away from our house). I don’t know if it’s the area, or these are newer times but her apartment is so much nicer that any place I lived in during college. What happened to the tiny, stackable dorm twin beds? Apparently I should have lived off campus because her walk in closet is larger than the one at our house.
After that we headed to dinner at one of our favorite spots in Dallas – Rise #1. I have already raved about this place in a previous post so I will spare you most of the details. But seriously, they have the most delicious soufflés. The bread pudding soufflé is in my top 5 desserts of all time. If you are planning on going on a Friday or Saturday, make sure you make a reservation or that you go in earlier. We waited over 45 min for a table.
On Saturday we spent most of the day shopping at the Allen outlets. I bought this adorable top (pictured below) at Kate Spade, this utility jacket at the GAP in the olive color, as well as a couple of other tops at LOFT and J Crew. We then spent about an hour looking for a very specific pair of sneakers that my Dad wanted. Next month my parents are going to Spain for a few weeks to do a pilgrimage route known as Camino de Santiago. They will be walking five hours a day until they get to Santiago de Compostela. Apparently the whole thing is very Eat, Pray, Love – ish. Anyways, he wanted very specific shoes for the trip that thankfully we were able to find.
After a whole day of shopping we were all starving and headed over to our favorite pizza place in Dallas – Cane Rosso. I tried taking pictures of the food but everyone was so hungry that I couldn’t even snap one without a slice being gone hehe.
Finally, on Sunday we ate some more with breakfast at the Original Pancake House where we ordered enough food for a family of eight (there were only 5 of us). Then we headed to Sephora and North Park where my parents treated us to some goodies. I picked up this texturizing spray at Sephora and this Charlotte Tilbury lipstick at Nordstrom.
After all the eating and all the shopping we went for a salad at Crisp Salad Co.
Crisp is just a few blocks from our house so we are pretty frequent visitors. I’m extremely picky about what is in my salad so I love that you can just customize.
We ended the weekend with some popsicles from Steel City Pops and a few ice cream sandwiches.
We’re sad to see my parents go today but we are so glad they were here and that they left my sister in the area 😉
