This weekend was a complete whirlwind. As I previously mentioned on the blog, I threw my friend Nadia a baby sprinkle at my house on Saturday. Apparently it’s not very common to throw baby shower’s for a second baby, so for those of us who still want to celebrate the baby on the way, a baby sprinkle is the way to go. Since all baby girl things are pink themed I went in a completely different direction with a gold and white color scheme (#rebel). After a quick Pinterest search, I decided to go with the Twinkle Twinkle Baby Sprinkle theme.
I created the invites using Canva (more about Canva coming on Friday) and they read “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star, Do You Know How Loved You Are?” So cute. I also used the same format to do a few games (Baby Girl Guessing Game, Wishes for Baby & Baby Stats). For decorations I did tissue paper tassels (in gold, white and mint), star balloons in white and gold, gold confetti and white flowers.
Since the baby sprinkle was at 11am I did a brunch theme for food: mimosas, a parfait bar, donuts, pigs in a blanket, fruit, cheese & crackers and of course cake. As a party favor I found these super cute Krispie Kreme donut scented candles that I tied with a white glittery ribbon. Lastly, I wore a white & gold top and my pink Eliza J midi skirt.
After the baby sprinkle we spent a couple of hours cleaning up and putting everything away. Honestly the most time consuming part is finding the right serveware for every food item, taking it out of the box, cleaning it (because of course it got dusty while in storage) and then putting it all away. We can’t fit all our china, glasses and serveware in the kitchen so most of the fancy items live in our guest room closet downstairs. A HUGE thanks to my husband. Not only does he take care of cleaning on a regular basis, but he put in double time by cleaning before and after the shower, picking up the food, setting up the food, hanging decorations and helping me put everything away after.
Even though we were exhausted, Saturday night we headed to Stars game. Hubby won a competition at work so the entire Company’s suite was ours (I’m thinking husband of the year award). Since we had the extra tickets we got to invite a few of our friends. Neither of us had ever been to a hockey game so it was a ton of fun. It’s also very convenient to have a whole suite to enjoy it. I could see us going to a few more hockey games in the future.
Yesterday was glorious as we had an extra hour of sleep. For once I didn’t have to set an alarm for my 10am workout class. After that we finally spent some time planning our quickly approaching Euro trip. We now have hotel reservations for every city we will be at. Or at least tentative reservations haha.
Following that, the husband decided to end the weekend with a bang. We went to Sephora so he could buy me something using the 20% VIB Rouge code. I picked this & this. And, as if that wasn’t enough, we also went to Kate Spade. Our two year anniversary is coming up so I hinted at an anniversary gift. By “hinted” I mean I tried it on and said THIS ONE 🙂
Oh yes, and lastly (I promise this is really the last thing) we bought this Hot Cocoa & Cream candle at Bath & Body Works. To keep with the chocolate theme, we stopped at Steel City Pops for their new dipped in chocolate popsicles. I went for the toasted marshmallow pop, dipped in dark chocolate with graham cracker crumbs. We lit the candle as soon as we got home. Our house literally smells like cocoa heaven. On that note, I’ll be signing up for more workouts this week.
