As many of you know, last weekend I took a quick trip to El Salvador to one of my best friend’s wedding. I had every intention of documenting the trip and my bridesmaid makeup look in detail. However, as usual I sucked at taking pictures and I was in a huge rush on Saturday. Therefore, you’ll have to bear with my poorly taken selfies/shots.
I flew in to El Salvador late Thursday night so there wasn’t much that happened on Thursday other than pupusa eating and hanging out with this guy:
On Friday I worked a little, hung out with my parents and got my bridesmaid dress fixed. Since the bride didn’t pick out specific dresses (she just asked us to wear navy blue) I ended up buying my dress at J Crew. However, it was final sale so I decided to get it a size up. When I tried the dress on earlier in the week it was a size too big and about a foot too long. Thankfully we were able to find someone to fix it on Friday and the dress fit perfectly.
Saturday I went to get a mani pedi (a very long overdue mani pedi) and a blow dry. I then set my hair with rollers since I didn’t want to do anything fancy with it. After lunch with my grandparents I started getting ready at home. I promised the bride that I would be ready at 4pm and would meet her at the hotel where she was getting ready to help her.
As usual I completely underestimated the time it would take to get ready. So, by the time I was ready to go it was already 4:30pm and there was no time for perfectly staged pictures of my makeup. Car and mirror selfies will have to do!
I took a chance and used this Milani foundation that I had just purchased. I don’t usually wear new products to special events since I want to make sure they will last. But after one application I knew this foundation would have the coverage and finish I was going for. Other than having to set it with powder I didn’t have any issues.
On my brows I used the Anastasia Brow Wiz and Tinted Brow Gel in Chocolate. And lastly, for my lips I used Jordana’s Easy Liner for Lips in the shade Plush Plum and Sephora’s Lipstick in the shade Oh Oh.
The bride looked so, so beautiful. Her makeup artist did an insane job with her eyes!
There were so many people there and it was so stressful that I didn’t want to overwhelm her with more pictures so I just took a few.
Even though we ended up rushing like crazy, she made it to the church only a few minutes late.
The ceremony was lovely. I’m sorry my pictures suck, but maybe once they get the pro’s pics I can share some here.
After the ceremony we headed to the reception which was decorated so beautifully. The arrangements were primarily white hydrangea based. I wish I could have snatched them up for product shots 😉
I also got to hang out with some friend’s from high school.
Overall it was a really nice evening catching up with friends and celebrating the lovely couple.
It was such a short trip but so worth it! I ended up running into the newly weds at the airport on the way to their honeymoon 🙂
