By the time this post is up we’ll be in lovely San Francisco on vacay! And, after a full week of product reviews I thought I would end the week with a recap of my travel makeup essentials.
My packing strategy on this trip is based on the following:
+ We are only bringing carry-on’s given how short our trips is. Obviously this limits my space & my liquids.
+ I always try to pack items that are multipurpose and/or that are about to run out so I can just toss them at the end of the trip.
+ We’ll be in the city & are also taking a trip to Mendocino so the items I pack need to be versatile enough to use for the entire trip.
IT Cosmetics SPF CC Cream: This cc cream is full coverage, long lasting & moisturizing. It also has SPF 50 so I don’t need to pack a separate face sunscreen. If I am in a rush, I can apply this with my fingers and it looks pretty good. For a more flawless look, or more coverage I usually apply it with a damp sponge. As an added plus, the packaging is very travel friendly since it’s in a plastic tube with a pump.
Real Techniques Sponge: I don’t want to dwell on makeup tools for this particular post, but I did want to shout out this sponge. I can use it to apply foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, blush & highlight. When space is limited, this orange little miracle worker takes the place of six different brushes. The only additional tools I need to bring are eye shadow brushes.
Hourglass Ambient Light Trio: I have a whole post (here) about how versatile these powders are. I can use the middle shade to set my foundation for an all over glowy/healthy skin look and either of the shades on the ends for very subtle brozing/warming up the skin. I also often use the middle shade on my eye lids when I am not using any eye shadow just to give the lids very slight shimmer.
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer: I picked this concealer from my stash because it’s the most full coverage and long lasting one I own. I know it will cover even the darkest of under eyes and will stay put all day. It also comes in a little squeezy tube and is pretty compact.
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder: Ok, so much for minimal packing haha. But I just can’t part without this powder. It is the BEST under eye setting powder and I’d be lying if I pretended I didn’t pack it.
The Balm’s Bahama Mama Bronzer: Another staple in my makeup bag. I use this bronzer almost every day. The shade is very neutral so I can use it to contour, bronze & eyen as a nice eye crease shade. The packaging on this is not only ultra adorable, but it’s also ULTRA travel friendly. Out of all the products I’m taking, this one is the less likely to break in route.
Becca Champagne Split in Flowerchild: It seems like this beautiful compact was made to travel. You get a blush and a highlighter in the pan & it has a nice mirror. Like all Becca products, these two don’t disappoint in terms of quality & pigmentation. I also love that the Flowerchild blush shade would complement any look. It’s basically a neutral pink shade.
Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette: This pick is no surprise. I love this palette. The range of shades is enough to produce an infinite amount of looks. I can go super light & natural for the day time, or I can create a more dramatic smokey look for nighttime. I also don’t need to bring an eye liner since I can use several of the darker shades for that. As a plus, the Champagne Truffle Shade can double as a highlighter & the packaging is very travel friendly.
Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel: Another can’t-live-without product. This is all I need to fill in my brows, give me definition and prevent any crazy hairs from sticking out. I know this gel isn’t going anywhere unless I wash it off.
Jordana Best Lash Mascara: I just wrote about this mascara yesterday so I’ll spare you any details. It’s the best and I can use it for my lower lashes too so no need to pack another tube.
