I hope you are all having a great week. Today I will be doing a quick review on Tarte’s new Rainforest of the Sea Marine Boosting Mist. If you know me, you know I have a
massive slight obsession with facial sprays. It all started with Urban Decay’s All Nighter Setting Spray. Once I realized how much a good spray can extend the life of your makeup and/or hydrate & revitalize your skin I never looked back.
This spray claims to restore your skin’s natural radiance and hydration and extends your makeup for 12 hours. After seeing this pop out in the Just Arrived section on Sephora.com I had to have it. Three business days later it arrived on my doorstep. I have been using this for about two weeks now and below are my initial thoughts:
Pro’s: Very light fragrance (like a hint of sea water), all natural ingredients (no parabens or phalates), hydrating
Con’s: Bottle does NOT spray a fine mist, price ($25 for 2.5oz vs $30 for 4oz of the UD All Nighter)
Would Repurchase? Still undecided, would have to try it with another nozzle
I wouldn’t say this spray extended the life of my makeup 12 hours. However, it did remove the powdery look once I finished my makeup, felt refreshing and added a little hydration to my skin. I have tried it a couple of times as a primer (before my foundation) but I haven’t noticed any marked differences in how my makeup applied or wore. I have also tried it once to dampen my foundation brush and it was very comparable to using MAC’s Fix +.
My biggest issue with this spray is the nozzle! For a spray that claims to set your makeup you would think that it would spray a very fine mist (as to not disturb the makeup), but this product is more of a squirt than a fine mist. I don’t know if something is wrong with my particular bottle, but even if I hold the bottle a good 10in away from my face I still get some good size drops all over my face. Has this happened to anyone else? I much prefer the nozzle on my Jurlique Rosewater Mist or the MAC’s Fix +. spray. In fact, once I run out of either of those, I may just pour the Tarte facial spray into the container for those and see if its better. I’ll keep you guys posted!
