It appears that I am the only blogger that does not have a Nordstrom card since my blog feed and Instagram have been nothing but wish lists or awkward dressing room picks from the early access to the sale.
I’ll confess that I didn’t even know about/shop the anniversary sale until last year. I know… what a blogger fail. But, as much as I love shopping for makeup, I don’t often shop for clothes/shoes which is what I associate Nordstrom with. Anyways… for those of you who don’t know, the anniversary sale happens once a year, and includes items that NEVER go on sale. Like, not even on Black Friday.
So, to be a total cliché, I wanted to share my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale picks. If you have a Nordstrom card, you already have access to the sale! But, if you don’t,
commoner regular people access starts July 22 and ends August 8th.
I am a huge fan of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, but I do not own anything else from the brand. I have heard so much about their bronzers and their blushes but have always held back because of the price (actual shocker considering how much I spend on makeup). The full size bronzer and blush are $50 and $38 respectively.
This palette is included in the sale at $62 which is still steep, but it includes luminous light (an ambient lighting powder), a blush and a bronzer. Obviously the sizes are smaller than the full size, but you get to try all three types. AND, this is pretty convenient for travel since you can use luminous light as a setting powder and you have your bronzer and blush all in one. The luminous light shade is also NOT included in the regular ambient lighting powder trio.
I don’t see this trio at Sephora or the Hourglass website so I believe it is a Nordstrom Anniversary Sale exclusive. Out of all the things on my list, this is the one I am really really hoping is still available on the 22nd.
This also appears to be another Nordstrom exclusive. Nordstrom is actually the only place in Dallas that carries this brand.
I don’t own a single Charlotte Tilbury item so I figured this palette would let me test out quite a few of their items.
A few months ago the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette was all the hype on YouTube. Sadly, this particular palette was limited edition so I never got a chance to test it out. This palette looks very similar to that limited edition palette so I have high hopes. Just as an fyi, I don’t grow money from a tree so if I can get my hands on the Hourglass trio above, I will pass on this one. If I can’t get the Hourglass trio, then I will buy this one.
Not a lot to say on this one, I have used the shampoo, conditioner and dry shampoo in the past and really like them. As the bottle claims, the shampoo and conditioner help your hair stay cleaner longer in between washes (don’t ask me how).
The 8oz shampoo and conditioner cost $25 each while the 4oz dry shampoo costs $22. All three would cost you $72. The set during the sale costs $45 so if you already use & love these, or if you were thinking of giving them a try, now is the time to buy.
I don’t know that I have ever talked about this hand cream on the blog which is odd because I keep it in my purse at all times. I am very passionate about sun protection, and most people don’t ever think about their hands when they apply sunscreen which is a tragedy because our hands are constantly exposed. Every time you are in the sun or driving your hands are likely exposed to the sun. The supergoop hand cream is not only SPF 40 but it absorbs quickly, moisturizes, smells great, is not greasy and leaves a dry touch finish (almost powdery).
The set is $40 for two 1oz travel tubes and a full size 10oz pump. If you bought all these separately it would cost around $62.
Clothing & Shoes
I am in no way, shape or form claiming to be a fashion blogger, or know anything about fashion, but I thought it would be good to share non-beauty items for once.
I have been on the hunt for a sportier/casual jacket to the harsh Texas winters (yeah right). I realized last winter that all my cold gear is pretty formal, which is fine for work, but not so great for weekends. I can’t seem to pull off the leggings & wool coat look.
This jacket is more casual (but still nice), has a hood you can zip in, seems to have an array of pockets (for all my lipsticks), and is water resistant.
Coats/jackets aren’t something I purchase often so $99 seems pretty reasonable.
Yes, a blazer, how boring. But again, something I don’t buy very often.
I am a big fan of blazers for work, it serves the same purpose as a sweater but looks so much more polished and professional. Plus, you can use most with jeans on Friday while still looking work appropriate.
I particularly liked this one for the price ($37.90), the array of colors (black, grey, navy, olive and burgundy) and because its machine washable. It is also a more relaxed fit than some of the blazers I already own.
My favorite thing about the very short winter in Texas is wearing boots. Growing up in El Salvador there was never a single occasion to wear boots. They aren’t even sold at most establishments. After 10 years of being in the US, I still get excited about wearing boots.
These are a wedge heel and distressed finish leather. I am thinking that, in black, they will still be office appropriate, yet casual enough to wear with jeans. They are priced at $149.90 which isn’t bad for tall leather boots.
What is on your wish list for the sale? Anything I should be adding to mine?
