Hi Everyone! Interesting title huh? Usually on the blog I’ll have favorites, fails, empties, etc. But there really isn’t a spot for products I’ve tried that are just meh. Basically, they aren’t great, but they aren’t terrible either. These are just products that keep hanging out since they aren’t bad enough to toss but not great enough to make it to a favorite. So essentially, not a beauty fail, but unexciting for me. Make sense? I hope so cause here we go…
I think I liked the idea of this more than I like the actual results. This cleansing conditioner is meant to be used in lieu of shampoo and conditioner. You rub it all over your hair (from root to ends) and then rinse it off. It’s supposed to be great for your hair since it doesn’t have any harsh chemicals.
I was pretty skeptical that this would actually clean my hair since the texture is very much like a conditioner. Surprisingly my hair felt pretty clean & soft after I used it. However, I use a ton of products on my hair (namely dry shampoo) and I feel like this doesn’t really deep clean my hair. I’m not sure it’s the ideal product for infrequent washers and/or people like me who use a ton of products in their hair. It’s not a bad product, it just wasn’t for me. I gave my second bottle to a friend who may enjoy it more than I do.
If you were to look in my vanity at any given time, the product you would find multiple types of is dry shampoo. I use it every single day and can’t live without it. This usually results in me having multiple bottles of it. I bought the Klorane Dry Shampoo on a whim since I’ve never tried anything else from the brand and it’s labeled for oily hair.
There really isn’t anything wrong with this dry shampoo. The issue is that it isn’t anything special. Even though it’s supposed to be for oily hair, it didn’t seem to be any different than other less expensive dry shampoos. It also doesn’t smell particularly nice.
I’m not sure you can even buy this in the US. I picked mine up in Paris after being drawn by it’s aluminum free claims. If you’ve been reading my blog a while you know I have a thing against aluminum or parabens in my deodorant. Although I love the Lavanila Pure Vanilla deodorant, I have been looking for another alternative since I’m convinced you need to switch it up every once in a while.
This La Roche Posay one is nice since it’s a roll on and goes on clear. However, it doesn’t seem to be as effective as the Lavinila one and it doesn’t smell particularly good. It’s better than some natural deodorants I’ve tried, but it’s definitely not as effective as Lavanila.
This was one of my Cyber Monday purchases. My hair does not hold a curl. Seriously, every time I finish using a curler I ask myself why I keep trying. No matter how much hairspray I use, how tight I make the curl, after an hour or so my hair is mostly flat. I thought perhaps I wasn’t using the right hairspray. Since I love Drybar’s Triple Sec I gave this hairspray a chance.
Unfortunately, it didn’t do anything different than a drugstore hairspray would do. I didn’t get a different finish or result than other hairsprays. I’ll finish using it, but at $27 I probably won’t repurchase it.
I feel so bad to have another Drybar product on this list but it’s just meh. This mousse was also part of my cyber Monday order after I ran out of another mousse. I haven’t had good luck in the mousse department so I had high hopes for this.
I usually apply mousse to my roots after I wash my hair and then blow dry it with my head upside down to get just a little volume. Although this mousse was better than others (my hair didn’t feel sticky or crunchy after) it didn’t do a whole lot of volumizing. I could get similar results with less expensive mousse. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it.
Have a great weekend everyone!
