This nice little Make Up Revolution Matte blush was part of a large Ulta order I placed to try out brands I’d never tried before.
I really don’t know where Make Up Revolution as a brand came from. I don’t recall ever seeing it at Ulta before up until about a year ago. But after hearing about a few different products from the YouTube world I decided to try out a few things. If you’ve been here a while you already know one of those products made my previous weekly favorites (here). However, I held off on the blush until I used it enough to review.
The Make Up Revolution Matte Blushes are sold at Ulta and retail for $5. You get 0.31 oz of product which is pretty average for blush. They come in a plastic compact without a mirror. As the name implies, these are completely matte. There is absolutely no shimmer or sheen to these. I picked up the color beloved which is a soft coral/watermelon color.
What I Like
+ The $5 price tag. This is at the low end of the range in my embarrassingly large blush collection.
+ This color is really pretty for spring and summer. Usually coral toned blushes are very bright, but this one is a very subdued coral shade. You can use this with a lot more make up looks than a straight up coral shade.
+ The texture is so so soft and the formula applies well. It’s not patchy or hard to blend. It’s also pretty dry compared to some other blushes I own so it lasts a long time in the heat.
+ There is no powder fall out with this which is usually a problem I have with drugstore price blushes. Translation – you won’t accidentally pick up a ton of product with your brush.
What I don’t Like
+ This isn’t a very pigmented formula so I have to go in a few times to get the amount of color I want. Granted, this may be good for some people since it makes it hard to go over board, but I prefer a more pigmented formula.
+ There is talc & mineral oil in the formula which isn’t great.
This blush is just nice, it isn’t amazing but it isn’t bad. I have so, so, so many blushes that I don’t gravitate towards this one very often. However, the color is really unique and would suit a large range of skin colors. Plus, at $5 it’s a great price!
