Hi Everyone! It’s been a while… I mean, not that long since I posted last week haha, but both posts were previously scheduled so technically it’s been a couple of weeks which means it’s time for a life update.
Between the holidays and studying for my Project Management Professional Certification exam I haven’t had much time to write. Any time I’ve had a spare hour I’ve either gone to a fitness class or studied. BUT, I am so happy to report that I sat for the exam last week and PASSED! I’m so happy and relieved that it’s over hehe. The last time I took a real test was five years ago when I took the last section of my CPA exam. I was a little rusty to say the least.
That also reminds me that it’s been five years since I started working in public accounting. Apparently time flies when you are having fun AND also when you are miserable doing audits. But, as I mentioned in my 2016 recap post, I’m super lucky to have moved into a new role that I love. Hence the need to get yet another certification.
Anyways, I thought I would briefly recap what’s been going on the last few weeks today since I haven’t done a weekend recap in quite some time.
As I mentioned a few times over the last few weeks, we went to El Salvador for Christmas.
Side Note: My mom is convinced that burglars are going to ransack our house if I mention that we’ll be out of town on the blog lol so I try at least not to mention any specific dates. Not that I’ve ever indicated exactly where I live… But, for any beauty blog reading burglars, I warn you we have a fancy alarm system 😉
As expected, the week flew by with all the festivities. However, we did get to sneak away for an overnight beach trip. It was just my parents, sister, Fernando, the dogs and me. We drank coconut water (from freshly cut coconuts) like there was no tomorrow, sat on the beach to watch the sunset and the stars & ate delicious food. I also brought a ton of my beauty items to take pictures for future posts. I really struggle getting good light at our house in Dallas so it was awesome to get perfect lighting in the morning by the pool.
Christmas Eve unfortunately was mostly sad since this was our first year without my grandma. I’m not sure that Christmas Eve will ever feel the same? I guess as time goes by and we all start making new traditions it will feel different. We didn’t even take a single family picture.
On Christmas Day we opened presents, hung out with the in laws and revealed our secret santa. We decided to play as a family this year instead of having everyone buy everyone presents. I was my sister’s secret santa and got this TheBalm palette. I’m hoping to review it on the blog asap.
The very next day we flew back to Dallas so that was it. I really meant to do a whole post on my mom’s Christmas table decorations. I even edited all the pictures, but sadly I never got time to write. It’s too late for a Christmas table post huh? Well, I will at least share a few pictures here since it deserves attention!
The rest of the week was spent studying, running errands and visiting friends.
We spent New Year’s with our friends and then my friend Hannah and I greeted the new year with a 90 minute cycling class. They are usually 45 min so it was a challenge.
I went back to work last week just in time for Tuna to get super sick (I’ll spare you the nasty details). Turns out she had a stomach infection and was dehydrated. They had to inject her with fluids. Not sure if any of you know this, but since she wasn’t staying to have an IV, they literally injected the fluids on her back. It takes a few days for them to get completely absorbed so she had a nice little jiggly hump for two days. You could literally see all the water jiggle on her back. We were grossed out and intrigued all at once.
By Friday she was back to normal and got to see snow for the first time.
I guess we can’t be sure she didn’t see snow before we adopted her. But it was the first time with us and she LOVED it. She was running all over the place and then trying to eat it.
I spent the rest of Friday studying and then took the exam on Saturday.
We spent Sunday taking care of things around the house, resting and blogging!
Alright, I think that’s enough action for one day. I’m sure you found it all riveting. A page turner…
I’ll be back a few more times this week with either a weekly favorite or a review and probably with another round of confessions.
