Hi Everyone! I know I usually post on Monday’s, but the last week was a whirlwind. I didn’t get a chance to sit down & write. But, to make up for it (and to make up for the lack of Weekend Recap posts) I figured I could do a quick life lately post. I’m sure you were all on the edge of your seats waiting for an update on our eat-clean-Netflix weekend routine.
So, let’s rewind to Valentine’s Day. My parents were visiting during actual Valentine’s day so we decided to celebrate a bit earlier. Since we are very much creatures of habit, we went to the same restaurant we did last year. Of course, we stuffed our faces with truffle-parmesan fries & veggie burgers. And, as if that wasn’t enough, we downed all of it with a S’mores milk shake. Yep, chocolate, marshmallow and graham crackers IN A MILK SHAKE. If you are in Dallas (or Austin) Hopdoddy is the best place for burgers & fries. Their black bean patty is pretty good compared to other vegetarian options.
On actual Valentine’s Day I woke up to a heart balloon with a sweet note from the husband. After work he brought me more balloons, flowers & we exchanged gifts. We’d previously agreed not to spend much on gifts and to keep it simple. After the balloons & flowers I worried he hadn’t kept his side of the agreement. But, in the end, he gave me a mug and I gave him a mouse pad haha. A custom mug and a custom mouse pad. We’re fancy like that.
Later in the week we celebrated my birthday. My hubby decorated our house using a beauty theme haha. He ordered a special happy birthday sign with a lady using a face mask haha. He also ordered cupcakes with little lipsticks and eye shadows on them. It was all so thoughtful, sweet & very much appreciated. Turns out the beauty theme was also a clue since he arranged a surprise spa day for me.
My mom also ordered more cupcakes from my favorite bakery in Dallas. Unfortunately she left them exposed the night before and Tuna ate two of them. That little weasel owes me because apparently she ate the sprinkles kind which are my very favorite. To top it all off, that night we went to dinner at a pizza place. Surprise, surprise, I wanted pizza.
On Saturday I went to Del Frisco’s for brunch with some lovely blogger friends to celebrate the Dallas Blogger Brunch 2yr birthday. Rhonda from The Skinny Arm has been hosting these amazing brunches for two years now! She used the cutest little cakes on the table & had party hats as name card holders.
My eggs benedict were delicious, the mimosas were bottom-less & the company was exceptional. It’s so nice to get together, connect and chat with other bloggers. No one truly understands the struggle of getting the perfect shot like other bloggers. Plus, it’s a no judgement zone when everyone waits a solid 5 minutes to dig into their food so everyone can get all the pics they need!
And, as if all that wasn’t enough, Amanda from Wear We Are Now arranged for a little gift for all of us from Poo-Pourri (thanks Amanda!).
We spent the rest of the weekend spending time with my parents, going on walks, shopping & eating.
All in all, it was a wonderful week full of celebrations 🙂
