I love me a good dupe post and hopefully this one will not disappoint!
I’ve already mentioned this little gem on the blog before but I didn’t go into the full details. So, in case you missed that, or want the full scoop, keep on reading.
It all started many months ago when I spent a staggering $139 on this little face cleaning device. I even reviewed it on the blog (here) and compared it to a Clarisonic Mia. If you read that post, it’s safe to say that I loved the Luna Mini 2.
But, all good things must come to an end and the Luna was no exception. Just weeks after my purchase it stopped working. The little wires at the bottom were fried and needless to say I returned it.
A few weeks after it’s death (so dramatic yes) I remembered my friend telling me about dupes on amazon. So as I always, I proceeded to do some research and found several positive reviews about a $38 alternative called Solo Mio. Sure enough that little sucker had 4.5 stars on amazon and over 300 reviews.
This is the part where you think I bought it. But no my friends, when I was about to purchase it I noticed another alternative in my suggested products widget on amazon. It was the Hailicare Natural Cleasing Brush for $18. After reading really positive reviews for that as well I decided to go with it.
What I Like
+ Duh, first and foremost the price. At $18 this is $120 cheaper than the Foreo Luna Mini 2. It is also almost $20 cheaper than the most popular dupe (Solo Mio).
+ Size – this is a little bit smaller than the Foreo Luna Mini which is just fine by me. I don’t need a giant flat conch shaped tool for my face. The smaller size on this one makes is easier to travel with AND to navigate your face with.
+ Soft bristles – just like the Luna, this has silicone bristles that are really gentle on my skin. This is much gentler than even the sensitive brush on the Clarisonic.
+Charges in about 30 min and so far its been 3 weeks of using it twice daily and its still going strong. The packaging didn’t say how long a charge lasts but if its anything like the Luna it will be months.
+The little port where you connect the USB charger has a little silicone cover to protect it. My Luna didn’t have this and I am starting to wonder if that is why it fried so quickly.
+ Different Speeds – You can adjust the speed with a + & – button on the front
+ Works just as well with foaming & non foaming cleansers
What I don’t Like
+ Unlike the Luna, this one doesn’t pulse after a specified number of seconds to tell you when it’s time to move on to another area of your face. Although this isn’t necessary at all (I can just count in my head) it was nice with the Luna
+ The “max power” setting on this one isn’t as strong as the Luna was
I’ve had a Clarisonic, Luna and now this to clean my face and I can 100% say, save your money and buy the $18 dupe. Other than the two differences I noted above this does exactly the same thing as the Luna. Plus, all the reasons why I preferred the Luna over the Clarisonic in my previous post still apply to this one. Even if you wouldn’t use it on a daily basis like I do, for $18 it’s a really nice product to have when you want to do a deeper clean of your face.
