Happy Friday everyone! I just realized we are three weeks away from our Europe trip and we have yet to make a single hotel reservation. Yikes. Looks like we’ll have to fit that in this weekend… right after my weekly trip to Sephora & Target and watching 50 scary movies. Have I ever mentioned that I love the Halloween series movies? Michael Myers is the most epic horror movie villain of all times. My friend Danielle and I would spend days watching reruns on AMC while we were in college. To this day we always text each other when we are watching Michael in October. I mean… he never dies. Every time you think he’s dead he comes back in the next movie. He also manages to grab people even through they run at full speed and he just walks. Anyways, back to business. For today’s Five on Friday I’m going through five products I’ve repurchased. It’s pretty much a variation of my product empties but this time exclusively for products I’ve repurchased.
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Gel
You know this product is special since this is it’s second appearance in this type of post. I am now on my third bottle of it (#addicted). I use it for so many things that I just can’t envision not having it. Most frequently, I mix in one pump of it to my moisturizer for added hydration. However, I also mix it in with my sunscreen since that is a very thick formula, and to sheer out foundation. For instance, I really like the L’Oréal Infallible Pro Matte foundation, but the formula is on the thick side, dries quickly and is very full coverage. As a result, I usually only used it on special occasions because it was too much for daily wear. If I mix it in with this gel I can make the application easier and sheer it out for day to day. I don’t even need a sponge or brush to apply it, I just use my fingers.
Basically you can use this gel on its own as a moisturizer, mixed in with your moisturizer for added hydration, mixed in with sunscreen, foundation or any other treatment (like retinol) or in the middle of the day if your skin is feeling dry. I love it.
Philosophy Purity Made Simple Facial Cleanser
This cleanser is an oldie but a goodie. A few months ago I bought one of the deluxe trial sizes of the Purity cleanser after years of not using it. I had forgotten how much I liked it so once I got through the smaller size I purchased the full size.
The Purity cleanser isn’t the type of product that you’ll use on your face and see some sort of results. It’s just a really good, reliable cleanser. The formula isn’t drying, it removes makeup, it’s ph balanced and fragrance free. You also don’t need a lot of it so it lasts forever. It works really well with my skin now that I am using really irritating products for my acne.
However, if you like foaming type cleansers, this isn’t for you. It doesn’t foam up. It’s got more of a milky-cream texture.
Batiste Dry Shampoo
I literally have four empty bottles of Batiste Dry Shampoo hanging out by my desk. I’m not even sure why I kept all of them since I only need one to remind me to write about it.
I go through dry shampoo like nobody’s business. Therefore, I can’t be spending $20 on dry shampoo every month. I love this Living Proof one but it’s too expensive for something I go through so quickly.
There are quite a more affordable dry shampoo’s available at the drugstore. I’ve essentially tried most of them, but Batiste is by far the best. There are a ton of scents including a tinted brunette one. Although it initially leaves my roots a bit white, it goes away if I rub it in and brush it out unlike most other drugstore dry shampoos. As a plus, all the scents smell nice, but they aren’t overpowering like some other dry shampoos. This will be on my products I’ve repurchased list for life.
Yes to Carrots Nourishing Daily Moisture Body Lotion
I love this body lotion! Usually I apply lotion every day after taking a shower, otherwise my skin feels like snake skin. I used to be a fan of this Jergens lotion. However, I’ve been trying to avoid using products with parabens or sulfates. Particularly in body products since I tend to use more of them on a larger area of my body. I’ve tried a few different paraben free lotions but I haven’t liked any enough to repurchase them.
This Yes to Carrots lotion is paraben, sulfate and petroleum free. It smells nice, but not overpowering and it leaves my skin feeling moisturized and soft. Plus you can find at the drugstore or Target. I am almost done with my second bottle!
Lavanila Pure Vanilla Deodorant
Yes, we are talking about deodorant again. Along with my aversion to parabens, the last few years I’ve also developed an aversion to deodorants with aluminum, propylene glycol AND the dreaded parabens. I’ve gone through at least 5 different types of more natural deodorants with no success. And let me tell you, deodorant fails are some of the worst types of fails. Just ask my husband.
This Lavanila deodorant is by far the best natural one I’ve ever found. It smells delicious, does not irritate my underarms and keeps me smelling fresh all day. I’ve tried the lavender and sport version but for some reason I think the pure vanilla one is the most effective. This is my second vanilla one, but my fourth from the brand 🙂
Warning: NO natural deodorant will ever be as effective as those with all the powerful chemicals. But, I am convinced you just have to let your body get used to using the gentler kinds. Also, word to the wise, reapply more often than you would a regular deodorant.
Alright, that’s my five products I’ve repurchased! I hope you have a great weekend!
