It’s been a hot minute since I did a true Five on Friday post! Although most of my Friday posts are lists of five’s, they tend to be themed. But, today I’m feeling festive.
Ok, let’s be honest – I couldn’t come up with a cohesive list of five of anything. Shocking, I know. Lists of five’s are my thing.
So, instead of skipping a post, you’ll just get a completely random list of things I’m loving lately. No rhyme or reason to any of these, just things I’ve really been enjoying.
Probably not what you expected right? Looking at my Instagram you’d think everything in my life is bright, pink and sparkly. And although I’m certainly drawn to all things pink and sparkly (like a 5 yr old), I’m also slightly obsessed with true crime. Actually, make that crime in general. I’m a big fan of mystery/thriller novels AND I love true crime podcasts. True Crime Garage, Up & Vanished, Convicted… I listen to ALL of them.
Around two weeks ago I came across My Favorite Murder. The entire show is essentially two friends telling each other murder stories (with the occasional survival story). Even though a lot of the stories are scary & gruesome, the hosts still manage to sneak in comedy into every single episode. As weird as it sounds, I’m laughing out loud through each episode. They’re witty, hilarious and curse like nobody’s business. Every episode is raw, with little, if any, editing which usually results in some hilarious conversations.
The show quickly rose to the top of the comedy podcast charts and with good reason. If you are into true crime and haven’t heard this, give a few episodes a shot and let me know if you like it. It’s been two weeks and I’m through episode 53.
Spaghetti? Yes, I told you this was a random list of favorites.
If you’ve been reading long, you know we are not cooking peoples. We do anything in our power to avoid cooking. You may also know that I’m vegetarian. So, when I came across this Edamame spaghetti at the grocery store, it was a match made in heaven. I only need to boil it in water for 4-5 minutes, and one serving has 25 grams of protein. That’s a lot of protein, especially for a plant based product.
I love that it’s such an easy meal since I just put store bought pasta sauce on it and call it a day. Plus, I think it tastes pretty good. I’m not particular about pasta, but I am a very picky eater – the taste just reminds me of pasta, not edamame.
I find this at my local grocery store, but they also sell it at Walmart and Amazon. I.e. it’s not a rare health food item.
Wet N Wild Color Icon Bronzer
You know I couldn’t do a Five on Friday post without a makeup item right?
I talked about this bronzer in passing in one of my Beauty Product Dupes post. This is so similar to the Radiant Light Hourglass Ambient Light Powder. However, because that was a dupes post, I didn’t fully express my love for this particular product.
This bronzer is the perfect subtle warm tone! The formula has a slight shimmer to it, but ends up looking like a satin, healthy glow on the skin. It blends well, doesn’t look orange and has SPF 15. What else could you need? Mine shattered recently and I ended up repairing it with alcohol so I could keep using it. Post on how to repair broken powders soon.
Also, did I mention this costs $3.97?? Pick one up asap. Even if it doesn’t work out for you, it costs less than your Starbucks coffee.
Mine is in the shade Ticket to Brazil.
Sally Hansen Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Mauve-olous
I freaking love this nail polish formula. I’ve talked about it in a weekly favorite post on the blog. Other than one fail with just one of the very light shades, every other shade I have is great. The formula is relatively thin, the pigmentation is very opaque, the brush is wide enough to require minimum strokes, and it lasts more than 3 days.
My latest shade purchase is the shade Mauve-oulous. As the name implies, this is a rosy mauve shade. Mostly it makes me feel like a proper lady haha. It’s just a really nice, completely work appropriate color that isn’t a nude. I’ve been wearing it non-stop.
In the list of things we always have around the house: Bath & Body Works Candles. We do not have a sewing kit… or a flashlight, but, we always have scented candles. We’re partial to the Bath & Body Works three wick candles – after only a few minutes of burning, our entire house smells amazing. Plus, if you wait, you can usually get them 2 for 1 or for around $10 during sales.
Recently I walked in the store to stock up and noticed they had several candles with this amazing marble inspired glass. Have you seen my instagram? 98% of my pictures are over a marble board. I was sold.
Our current favorite scent is Mineral Springs. The scent is described as: Soothing Mineral Water, Night-Blooming Water Lily, Dash of Lime. It’s fresh enough for the summer, but not sweet like a lot of the spring/summer scents. It is also on the masculine side which my husband appreciates. As a major plus, the aesthetics of this candle are much nicer than any other B&BW candle. They also have the marble inspired glass in a few other scents!
What are your recent favorites? Any recommendation on soy based candles that are as powerfully scented as the B&BW?
Have a great weekend friends!
As always, I’m linking up with with the ladies at Carolina Charm, Meet At The Barre, A Cup of Tea ,The Slaughters sand September Farm for today’s Five on Friday. Make sure to check out their Five’s on the links above.
