Alright friends, another edition of Five on Friday, but this time with a little twist. This will be Five under $5 beauty favorites. Be sure to check out the ladies at Carolina Charm, The Slaughters and September Farm for their Five’s.
Essence Eye Shadow – $1.99
A few weeks ago I went on the Ulta app and starting adding items to my cart from brands I’d never tried. All in the name of blog research of course. One of those brands was Essence. Considering how insanely affordable most of their items are, I thought there was no way they would work out. But at $1.99-3.99 for most products I didn’t care and ordered this shadow. I went with the shade The Grammy Goes Glammy primarily because I liked the name (not that I recommend choosing shades by their ridiculous names). And I am so glad I did!
The formula feels soft and although there is shimmer, it’s not glittery or chunky at all. Also, since the color is a very light champagne color, you can use this as an all over lid color, a highlighter or to brighten the inner corner of your eyes. I find myself using this in some shape or form almost every day,
Jordana Easy Liner for Lips – $2.49
I have this liner in 5 shades, that basically sums it up. They are the only lip liners I use. They are ultra affordable, retractable, creamy, pigmented, long-lasting and sold at Walgreens. My favorite shade is Rose Crush which is a nude/rosy shade that I essentially use with most of my lip colors. I always use it before applying a liquid lipstick.
Interestingly enough, these were the first lip liners I bought when I first started getting into lipsticks. I didn’t want to spend $20 for a high end lip liner when I was just getting started. I quickly realized these are just as good.
LA Girl Glide Gel Liner $3.49/each
I go back and forth between eye liners, but I always find myself going back to the LA Girl Glide Gel Liner. Even though it’s a pencil, the formula is very much like a gel so it goes on easily with no tugging. They have a decent range of colors (my favorite is dark brown) and the lasting power is great. I’ve used this to line my lid and the waterline and haven’t had any issues with smudging. I also like that it’s a pencil. I know some people hate having to sharpen eye liner, but I prefer ones that require sharpening as I can get a sharper tip if I need it.
As a bonus, LA Girl cosmetics is cruelty free!
Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm – $4.49
Ok ..I know I am not 16 years old, but I love these. I probably have at least 5 hanging around the house. I also put these in my bridesmaid gifts for my wedding.
Most of the shades are moisturizing, smell delicious and give you just a tiny hint of color. You don’t need a mirror to apply.
My favorite ones are Pink Punch, Cherry Me and Peach Kiss (not the most moisturizing shade but gives a nice nude finish).
Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Moist Deep Conditioner – $4
Why does the word moist make so many people uncomfortable? I know this is off topic but since the word “moist” is in the name of this product I am taking the opportunity to throw that out there. I’ve met so many people that hate that word. Ointment & pus I get. But moist? Cake is moist 🙂 and cake is delicious.
Anyways, back to the product at hand. I’ve gone through several bottles of this conditioner in the last year. I know some people only use this once a week or once a month, but I use it every single time I wash my hair. It smells delicious, is super affordable and leaves my hair soft and manageable. I actually prefer it to the Living Proof Perfect Hair Day conditioner (which I also love). But this one is $20 less!
Happy Friday everyone! I hope you have a great weekend!
