This pic basically describes my feelings towards the beauty product fails we will be discussing today.
I want to keep this space on the internet positive and light, but I love reading about other people’s product fails. Sure, you can always go to a site and read reviews, but there is something about beauty product fail blog posts and videos that seems much more authentic than anonymously writing a review.
Plus, if this information will help anyone on a purchase decision, it is a good thing right?
Disclaimer: just because these products did not work for me, it does not mean they will not work for you. Everyone is different, so take this with a grain of salt!
1. Living Proof Perfect Day Night Cap Perfector
I was so intrigued by this product when it showed up on the just added section of Sephora that I immediately ordered. It claims to give you one week of shiny, vibrant and more manageable hair with one use.
Basically you apply 2-3 pumps of the product on damp or dry hair before going to bed and either wash it off the next morning or leave it on. It completely absorbs into your hair without leaving a greasy residue, even when applying to dry hair on the roots.
After using it a few times though, all I noticed was that my hair smelled nice and felt a tad bit softer than usual. I could have achieved the same effect by applying a few drops of serum on my hair.
I just don’t get it, this product is $28 for 4oz and all it does is make my hair feeI a little softer? I get the same result from using a $3 conditioner. I actually kept using it because I love the perfect hair day shampoo and conditioner so much. But it’s pointless, it’s not worth the trouble for what it does. I would definitely NOT repurchase. I don’t think I will even finish this bottle.
2. Urban Decay B6 Vitamin- Infused Complexion Prep Spray
This is another product I just don’t understand. It claims to be an all purpose spray that can be used to prep the skin before makeup.
I love me some facial sprays, but this one I did not like. The scent wasn’t very pleasant and it didn’t seem to completely sink into the skin. I almost felt like it left a slightly greasy residue on my face.
Again, I thought I would love it considering the All Nighter spray is one of my favorites, but the travel size of this one was enough for me.
3. Stila Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo
After searching all over the internet for this product, I realized it has been discontinued. And probably with good reason. This dry shampoo is basically scented talc. It does not spread evenly and it’s actually a pain in the butt to apply.
Since you can’t purchase it anymore I don’t have to tell all of you to save your money 🙂
4. Primal Pit Paste in Lavender
Ok, I know this isn’t technically a beauty product. But, I have seen this product talked up by several bloggers so I wanted to include it in here.
This is a natural deodorant stick that is aluminum and paraben free.
I have been trying out more natural deodorants for a while now and I know they will never work the same as a chemically filled “regular” deodorant. But I have found some decent ones.
After reading several people talk about this I ordered it off amazon.
Again, I am super confused. How do people even apply this? It is so, so rough and difficult to blend! It actually hurts my skin to try to spread around. The scent is weird and I found it to be pretty ineffective as my husband was quick to point out.
And to make matters worse, this really irritated my skin. At the end of the day, the entire area I applied it to would be really red and sensitive. I will be tossing it!
