The other day my husband was walking around our room, tripped over something and said: “it’s like our bed is throwing up”. Huh? Well, after looking around I realized that I’ve stuck so many things under the bed that they are starting to peek out causing us to constantly trip over everything spilling out. One of the culprits is my basket full of beauty product empties.
Any time I use up a product, I throw it in a basket for blog purposes. I figure it will either be featured in a beauty product empties post like today, or make an appearance in a fails post. The worst part is that I don’t save the products so I can photograph them. I usually just save them so I won’t forget about them. So, in an attempt to clean up some of the under-the-bed overflow, we’re tackling five beauty product empties for today’s Five on Friday post.
I can’t seem to get away from this brand. This product is the shower gel that goes with the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. I originally bought this in a set that came with the full size shower gel and a full size tub of the Bum Bum Cream. Sadly, it appears that the set is no longer available.
The scent of this is amazing (and just like the intoxicating smell of the Bum Bum Cream). The gel is very creamy and lathers really nicely. It cleans without stripping the skin and leaves the distinct Pistachio – Caramel fragrance. Plus it’s paraben free!
Although I love this shower gel and the scent, I find $25 for shower gel a steep price to pay so I haven’t repurchased yet. I’m hoping that the value set will come back. Otherwise, I’ll repurchase during the next VIB sale.
I’ve actually managed to accumulate two empties of this cleanser. Although this isn’t a life changing face cleanser (are there even any life changing face cleansers?) it’s a very gentle and reliable product. I can always count on it since it cleans and removes all my makeup. My face never feels tight or dry after using this and it doesn’t irritate my eyes. Plus, it’s relatively affordable and lasts a pretty long time. I bought a travel size bottle during the November VIB sale and my friend Naush gave me a full size one for Christmas (thanks boo!). I’m just now getting through both of those bottles.
Yes, I already bought another 8 oz bottle using an Ulta coupon. This is the type of cleanser I can use regardless of how my skin is feeling (dry or oily) and regardless of the season. I have a feeling I’ll always have one of these around.
I got a deluxe sample of this cream in one of my Sephora Play Boxes. This cream has 30% hyaluronic acid and claims to hydrate for up to 72 hours. Although I’m skeptical of this claim, I did enjoy the texture and feel of this moisturizer. The formula is very thin and absorbs REALLY fast. The skin is left hydrated and with a silky feel.
I wanted to, but then I realized the full size comes in a jar. WHY?! That was enough to hold me back considering the thin texture of this product. Further, although I like the formula, you can buy hyaluronic acid for much cheaper and just use it as a serum before another moisturizer. Overall, it’s a nice product, I just didn’t think it’s worth the $52 price tag.
I believe my sister recommended this product at some point. I wasn’t sure I would like it since she has dry skin while I have combination skin. However, I was surprised by how much I liked it. The formula isn’t too heavy and absorbs easily (so it works well under makeup). The finish is almost on the iridescent side which can work well when going for a more dewy look. Plus, it has SPF 30 (and we all know how I feel about sun protection).
Not right now. I know, I just said I really liked it. But, here’s the thing: I’m a beauty product ho, and I didn’t like it enough to not want to try something new. I would definitely go back to this in the future, I just didn’t feel compelled to repurchase immediately. Also, this product has the chemical SPF octinoxate which isn’t something I want to see on my skin care products.
I know I’ve talked about this product at least twice on the blog. A previous empties post perhaps? This is essentially like a tinted eye cream. It brightens, smooths and depuffs while leaving the area illuminated. The fair/medium shade is like a sheer light peach shade so it definitely helps brighten dark circles. If you have very little darkness under the eye, this would be enough to take the place of a concealer. For me however, it’s the perfect product when I don’t want to wear makeup, but don’t want to look like a zombie. I wouldn’t use it on it’s own for heavier makeup days (my under-eye darkness needs a concealer for complete coverage), but it’s great on no makeup days.
Always! I’m on my third or fourth tube of this. It’s worth every penny.
Alright, praise the powers that be, I can throw all these empty bottles out! What are some of your recent beauty product empties?
As always, I’m linking up with with the ladies at Carolina Charm, Meet At The Barre, A Cup of Tea ,The Slaughters sand September Farm for today’s Five on Friday. Make sure to check out their Five’s on the links above.
