Hi Friends, as some of you have noticed, I have been quite MIA from the blog the last week or so. Unfortunately, my grandma’s health took a turn for the worse and I had to fly to El Salvador to be with my family. The last few days have been emotionally exhausting. But, I am very grateful for my very understanding colleagues, friends and family. I am just now getting back into the swing of things so this week may be slow on Instagram since I haven’t been taking pics. But I have posts lined up for the week. Today I will share a random favorite of mine. The world needs to know about the best leggings ever! So much that I have already repurchased these twice.
A couple of years ago I had a massive debate with a coworker about whether leggings were appropriate attire for casual Fridays. I vehemently said that leggings were under NO circumstances appropriate office wear. On the other hand, my coworkers said that with the right shirt, shoes and leggings, you could pull it off. So, I started exploring the idea and ended up googling the best leggings for work. After these came up in several searches I decided to give them a try.
Why I love them?
+ I believe these leggings are made of ponte knit. The fabric is much thicker than your regular leggings so it holds EVERYTHING in. I can’t deal when you can see through everyone’s jiggle through their leggings. I have some jiggle myself and I very much prefer the fabric of my pants to be thick enough to hold it in place.
+ Even though the fabric is thicker, they are still stretchy and very comfortable
+ The back of the leggings has a zipper so they look slightly more formal than regular leggings. There are also two lines than run down the legs so it looks more like pants.
+ Overall, between the thicker fabric, the band waist, zipper in the back and lines these are definitely a step up from any old legging. The feel is exactly like leggings but the overall look is much nicer. So much that I will actually wear these to the office on Fridays. I do always wear a tunic style top (longer in the back than a regular shirt) since they are pretty fitted.
What I don’t like about them?
+ These are dry clean only. I know, so annoying, but honestly they are so worth it to me. I’ve never bought another pair of leggings after these. I just have two pairs for when one is at the dry cleaners. And actually I have three pairs, I bough the pixie with the leather panels for when I’m feeling extra fancy.
+ The price is steep. These run at $99 at full price which is pretty expensive. However, I really consider these pants and they are very durable so if I am willing to spend $100+ in jeans, I will spend $99 on the pixie pant. Also, if you sign up for the J Crew emails you can wait for a 30% off sale and get them for $70 or so.
I hope you have a great week!
