Hi! I’m Claudia, the writer behind Just a Little Blush (it feels really strange typing “the writer”, but fake it till you make it right?).
After graduating with a Management degree from UNC Chapel Hill (go Heels!) I moved to Austin to pursue a Masters of Professional Accounting (as opposed to the unprofessional variety?) from UT Austin. Shortly after graduating and passing the CPA exam (a feat in itself) I moved to Dallas to work in public accounting. I’ve been in Dallas ever since, living with my hubby and our rescue dog Tuna.
Although I appreciate my corporate job – particularly the part that pays the bills, I realized I needed to do something for myself. There was a time in my life when work was all the mattered. I lacked motivation and passion for anything… At one point I even googled “ideas for hobbies”.
What I failed to realize was that I already had a passion! I spent a great deal of my spare time watching makeup videos on YouTube, wandering the halls at Sephora and Ulta, reading beauty books & blogs and playing around with makeup. I LOVE researching, testing and talking about makeup and beauty products. And most importantly, I love recommending my favorite products to my friends and family.
The result? Just a Little Blush, a blog where I write about my favorite products, makeup reviews, tips and tricks and life in general.
This blog has been quite the ride – in the absolute best sense of the word. I’ve discovered and explored a completely untapped creative side. I’m learning photography, graphic design, social media management, WordPress, makeup formulations, etc. I even attended The Makeup Training Academy to complete my level 1 Makeup Artist training.
Ultimately this blog has pushed me to grow and learn as photographer, writer, artist and person. It’s been the catalyst I needed to get out there, try something new, meet new people (that have become close friends in the process) and essentially put myself out there for the world to see. I’m not even kidding, if you look back through my archives you’ll find plenty examples of awkward mirror selfies.
So, welcome! I’m glad you’re here to witness the feat that is maintaining this blog (and to witness my embarrassing typos… and failed attempts at cute selfies). Let’s hope none of my former English teachers stumble upon any of those.
